![]() ![]() After importing I had a ton of clips and dozens of sequences (I just imported everything on the drive). I created a new project and added ~1.2TB worth of clips from another external drive I have, this one about half the speed of the other drive I'm using above. Is it possible this is due to a setting? Is this expected behavior? If it is not expected and not due to a setting I can change, then it is a bug. The problem is that upon importing any file of any size, Premiere appears to re-read each and every clip that is in the project. I moved all media cache and scratch duties to that drive. I also today purchased a new fast m.2 drive. ![]() I have tried to project file in various locations with minimal success. Conforming is not what is causing it to freeze as importing the same image or clip into another project with less media takes a second. The speed of my external RAID, hooked up through USB 3.1 10Gbps has been tested with multiple benchmark tools and is plenty fast - only slightly slower than my internal m.2 ssd.Īfter import, there is no opportunity to wait for conforming to finish as it immediately freezes when the import dialog completes. It is not possible for me to replicate this on an internal drive as I do not have one of sufficient size. The size of my project is 1.2TB, and it appears to be the size of the project (or number of clips) that introduces the problem. ![]() Thanks for taking the time to respond and helping me figure this out. Here is a short video of this problem so you can see the exact behavior: That doesn't seem right does it? What would cause that behavior? Possibly related: I can see in resource monitor that Premiere is reading all, or at least close to all, my clips from my external media drive seemingly at all times as long as Premiere is focused. My cache files are also on the main drive (I have another SSD on the way for a dedicated cache drive). proj is on my main SSD in my adobe cloud sync folder. Creating a new project resolved a lot of these, but there are still a handful of clips that have to be re-linked every time. I have to re-link the media every time, even after I re-link and save the project. Possibly related: My project fails to remember where the media is linked (it is on an external RAID 0).Premiere usually recovers, but it can take several minutes even to import a tiny. My system: AMD Threadripper 1950x, 32GB ram, M.2 SSD, GTX 1080.Windows 10 with the latest updates as of the time of posting this.I have not noticed this behavior in other projects.I have tried creating a new project and importing the previous project into it. The freezing happens regardless of what is being imported and even happens on small images. r3d raw files but some other types as well. This is happening in a particular project with a lot of clips in it, mostly. This happens whether I import using drag and drop, the import menu item, or through the media browser. I am having a problem where Premiere is freezing immediately during/after import. ![]()
